The IT EPIC Principal Analyst will be responsible for:


  • Serving as the department expert on multiple related Epic applications with significant impact (e.g., large user communities; broad cross-functional, cross-team implications; highly integrated; long-term projects).
  • Taking ownership and potentially serving as the Application Coordinator for these areas with primary responsibility for the design, build/configuration, testing, and ongoing support, helping shape the direction of the supported applications.
  • Acting as a business partner/consultant, proactively engaging with the client and key stakeholders to understand their current and future operational needs. Conducting complex analyses to identify root cause, implications, and evaluate options.
  • Leading and/or investigating the most complex requests, typically involving significant root cause analyses of complex problems (e.g., greater risk, more uncertainty, many integration points) and creating solutions within and across Epic applications, other 3rd party systems/applications, and/or peripheral devices.
  • Performing advanced configuration or customization, as necessary, to address business needs. Creating new builds and/or new templates that often involve complex logic, all levels of users and/or providers, and decisions with significant compliance implications (e.g., SPI approval/revocation/auditing).
  • Managing the integration of multiple Epic applications and 3rd-party, Epic-eligible vendors and/or internal proprietary applications/systems. Coordinating Epic integration requirements for non-Epic applications with the appropriate IT team in conjunction with vendor-provided support.
  • Keeping abreast of how the application is used in other organizations to identify opportunities for optimization and enhancements.
  • Participating in upgrades by owning release notes that span supported applications and require coordination across teams. Reviewing release notes to identify and recommending to management the prioritization of new features or enhancements to implement.
  • Serving in a lead role in presentations to senior leadership on key project updates, broad-reaching Epic optimizations, issues, and industry trends.
  • Working with senior management and principal trainers to understand gaps in training and/or isolate Epic application issues.
  • Presenting at national forums such as Epic XGM - Expert Group Meeting, Epic UGM - User Group Meeting, and other national forums. Attending industry conferences, training at Epic for additional certifications, or BCH offerings.


To qualify you must have:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of health information management is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree , An Associate’s Degree with an additional 2 years of related experience or a high school diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience directly involved in Epic application support performing builds in the targeted applications. Demonstrated experience performing complex builds and integrations.
  • 10 years of experience directly involved in Epic application support performing builds in the targeted applications with significant experience performing complex builds and integrations is required
  • Experience independently managing the Epic cycle for multiple applications from design through implementation and optimization
  • Experience presenting to leadership and in educating or supporting the education of end-users.
